Richard Chianella

Artist Richard Chianella is a native of Queens, New York, and has made his home in Rhinebeck for the last 20 years. From a two level building on his property he created a multi purpose studio. Owner of The Rhinebeck Photography & Art Center & Picture Framing Unlimited LLC located at 2869 Route 9g, Rhinebeck, NY 12572 is where he has a shop for making Custom Frames, a Digital Photography Studio, a Photo Gallery and a Wood Workshop where he cuts the wood for the frames. There is room for students and those eager to learn from his expertise.

Richard is a spiritual man and one sees his inner calmness reflected in his photographs and also more recently in his experiments with Acrylic Pouring on canvas.

He incorporates his spiritual principals into his photography as well as his life. Richard looks at the world in terms of energy and vibrations. He strives to be a witness; to record a moment in time–to keep an open mind. His photos of birds and landscapes are imbued with the inner peace and calm demeanor he exudes.

Richard’s digital photography is a process of using the camera as a tool to capture that moment. Then he uses “post processing” software like Lightroom or Photoshop to complete the process from shot to the final photograph. “Back in the day we would capture with the film camera then do all the processing in the wet darkroom.” That’s all changed now.

“Photoshop offers an unlimited amount of options along with outside plugins that make anything possible: contrast and color, to different filter effects are all to be used and experimented with.” Richard does all his own printing and chooses from many fine art papers.
