Yoram Gelman

Yoram Gelman offers his photographs as ideas, fragments, implying narratives, agreeing with Noam Chomsky: We have art and music because we cannot say everything we want with language.

Most of his work is black and white. . . like small ensembles in music, hearing individual lines among the blend, keeping color only when it does not distract.

His subjects often involve nature or man-made structures, looking for clear lines. Shadows, especially when they fall on curved surfaces, form wonderful shapes.

His images often lead the viewer out of the frame, again inviting contemplation to finish the narrative.
