Gwen Bardon
Gwen Bardon is a Hudson Valley–based painter working in oil and cold wax to create quiet, atmospheric abstractions rooted in light, surface, and subtle shifts of form. Her intuitive process of layering, scraping, and excavation builds tactile, matte surfaces that hold traces of what came before. Influenced by landscape, architecture, memory, and the weathered textures of place, her work has been shaped by environments ranging from the Hudson Valley to a recent residency in Provence, France. Rather than depicting a specific place or moment, Bardon allows forms to emerge and recede, creating paintings that invite contemplation and evoke a sense of stillness, atmosphere, and accumulated time.
