Elisabeth Barnett

FEATURED ARTIST July 2025

Art Gallery 71 invites you to
River Light: Hudson River Images
a show by artist Elisabeth Barnett
July 11 - August 3
Reception: Saturday, July 19, 4-6pm, presentation on protecting the river at 5:30pm

Elisabeth Barnett grew up in New Paltz and then lived in many places before settling in Rhinebeck in 2006. She identifies as a plein air oil painter but also engages other subject matter, aiming for a sweet spot between realism and abstraction.

Her painting allows her to deeply connect with the natural world, and to capture images with resonance or beauty. When possible, she paints outdoors but is also happy painting in the studio inspired by photographs. More recently, she is painting flowers and people living their lives. She has shown her work in juried and member galleries and shows throughout the Hudson Valley.

The current show highlights the Hudson River with its different nuances and seasons.

Come in between July 11th and 19th to sign up for 2 free raffle tickets for the Solaris, a solar powered boat run by the Hudson River Maritime Museum in Kingston, NY.
