Joanne Cuttler
FEATURED ARTIST August 2025
Art Gallery 71 invites you to
Ode to Provincetown
a show by artist Joanne Cuttler
August 7 - August 31
Reception: Saturday, August 16, 4-6pm
Bringing her love of painting architecture to a town she has known and loved for many years, watercolor artist Joanne Cuttler captures the charm of Provincetown’s buildings. Steeped in history, a haven for artists and free spirits, Ptown’s architectural styles are as eccentric as its inhabitants. Cape Cod cottages coexist with Federal, Greek Revival, Gothic Revival, Italianate, Shingle style, Colonial Revival and Modernist buildings. All are jumbled on a sandy spit at the tip of Cape Cod, 3 miles long and 2 ½ blocks wide, with the breathtaking beaches and dunes of the National Seashore. Ptown’s light is legendary and its ethereal, yet permeating, quality has inspired artists for over a century.
Joanne Cuttler holds a BA in studio art from Bard College, with earlier studies at the Art Students League, School of Visual Arts, and Parsons. She studied watercolor with Betsy Jacaruso for over a decade. Her work is featured in collections throughout North America.
